Positioning the transmitter

Attach the adjustable elastic strap to one end of the transmitter. Moisten the electrodes with saliva or water. The
electrodes are the part with groves on them. You can use Buh
Bump lotion for better transmission.
Secure the strap and lock the buckle, the elastic strap should
stretch at least 4-6 inches and the Polar Logo should be in a central
upright position. Small or Xlarge straps are available for $8;
the regular size fits from 32 inch to 54 inch chest size or from 90 to

Hold the face of the receiver next
to the center part of the transmitter. The receiver displays 888,
heart rate will be displayed in 5 seconds and you can see your heart
rate and the heart symbol in the display. The heart symbol
will flash to correspond to your heart rate. If the heart symbol
flashes inconsistently heart rate measurement will not be accurate, make
sure that the transmitter is positioned correctly and there is no source
of electrical interference.
The polar favor will
rotate in the watch band and can be pushed out and mounted with a bike
mount. To push out rotate 90 degrees so that the numbers are
parallel to the watch band, otherwise the plastic ring holding the unit
in place may get damaged. If your plastic ring is damaged you
should send in your unit for a replacement ring and a battery
change this costs $20 including shipping.
The Polar Tempo will
display elapsed time when the face of the receiver is next
to the center part of the transmitter. The tempo will go into the
heart rate mode after 5 seconds. Polar

and do the same for minutes. The daily alarm is set and now the
monitor is ready to have time of day adjusted which is the next screen
with the am/pm flashing. Proceed to adjust the time of day identically
as you did for the alarm. Press both
buttons simultaneously to go back to time of day at any time.

proceed to set the time of day as above. Otherwise with time of
day showing press both buttons, than push the left button 5 times to
skip the daily alarm setting. AM / PM will blink, push the right
button to toggle the am/pm. Push the left button and hours will flash, use the right button to
change, once set push the left button and do the same for tens or
minutes. Once set once set push the left button and do the same
for minutes. The time of day is set.
Setting the target zones
With time of day showing, push the
left button, the upper limit will blink, push the right button and the
high limit will increase in 5 beat increments. The highest setting
is 240. If the setting is increased after reaching 240 it will
reset to 70. Note:
the high limit will not set below the number at which the low limit is
set. It may be necessary to decrease the low limit and then return
to the high limit. Push the left
button, the lower limit will blink, push the right button and the low
limit will increase in 5 beat increments. The highest setting is 5
beats below the high limit. Once the high limit is reach the low
limit will drop to 15. Sark Products recommends 120 for the
low limit and 150 for the high limit for new users with no cardiac

In the heart rate mode press the left button
to stop the stop watch. Press the left button again and the stop
watch will start.

ith wet electrodes and the
transmitter belt on, push the left button on the watch, your heart
rate will register after 5 seconds. To stop heart rate
measurement, remove the transmitter belt, the fitwatch automatically
turns off after 10 minutes to save the battery.
Target zone alarm signal
When the alarm symbol appears in
the heart rate monitoring mode, you will hear a beep with each heart
beat if you go above the upper target zone limit or below the lower
target zone limit. Push the right button to turn the target zone
alarm signal on/off. Setting the target zones
Push the left button once until an
arrow appears in the upper left corner of the display. Keep
pushing and hold the button to set the high limit. The numbers
will increase in units of 5, automatically to 240. The high limit
will then go to the low limit plus 5. Note:
the high limit will not set below the number at which the low limit is
set. It may be necessary to decrease the low limit and then return
to the high limit. The
desired high limit is set by releasing the left button. The low
limit will appear with a down arrow in the lower left corner. Push
and hold the left button, the low limit will increase in 5 beat
increments. When the low limit number reaches the high limit, the
low limit will reset to 10. The low limit is set by releasing the
left button. The fitwatch then automatically enters the heart
monitoring mode
