PC Coach Technical Support is free to all PC Coach and PC Coach Light owners! This page gives answers to SonicLink download questions.   If you have a SonicLink related question that is not answered below, please email us and we'll get you the answer as soon as possible - normally  within 24 hours.

Q1: I receive an error message that says "No signal detected before timeout."
A1: Try the following:
  • Run Microsoft Volume Control and be sure that Microphone is selected as your recording device. (See example of this screen at the bottom of this page.)
  • Slide the microphone volume slider to a medium-high setting.
  • Test the SonicLink data transfer again. And be sure that you hold the monitor in the proper position.
Q2: The data transfer operation times out.
A2: If the downloading SonicLink data operation consistently times out, increase the microphone recording control volume:
  • Run Microsoft Volume Control and be sure that Microphone is selected as your recording device. (See example of this screen at the bottom of this page.)
  • Slide the microphone volume slider to a high setting.
If adjusting the microphone volume does not solve the time out problem, switch SonicLink downloading to the "alternate method." To switch to the alternate method: from the File menu, select Download, and click on "Use Alternate SonicLink Method". Then try your download again.

Q3: The signal from my monitor seems to be weak.
A3: If your heart rate monitor signal sounds too low in volume, you should increase the microphone recording control volume.

To increase the volume:

  • Run Microsoft Volume Control and be sure that Microphone is selected as your recording device. (See example of this screen at the bottom of this page.)
  • Slide the microphone volume slider to a high setting.
  • Test the SonicLink data transfer again. Be sure that you hold the monitor in the proper position - with the back of the watch pointed toward the microphone with the watch about 1/2 inch (3 cm)  from the microphone.
Q4:  The screen continues to read "Waiting for signal" for longer than 45 seconds.
A4: If the downloading SonicLink data operation consistently fails or waits for longer than 45 seconds, you are not getting a strong enough signal. Refer to Question 2 above, for information on how to check your microphone input level and switch to an alternate downloading method.

Q5:  I receive a fatal blue-screen error or computer hard crash.
A5: If you ever receive a fatal blue-screen Windows error or experience a computer hard crash while attempting a SonicLink data-transfer, PC Coach will automatically switch to the alternate SonicLink downloading method the next time PC Coach is launched. Switching to the alternate method should solve any problems that caused the fatal blue-screen error or computer hard crash.
